Walailak University continues to elevate community public health standards, recently sending a pharmacist from Arsomya Walailak Pharmacy to participate in a workshop on “Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine.” The initiative aims to integrate health innovations into real-world practice, focusing on targeted therapies, enhanced safety, and a sustainable reduction in adverse drug reactions.
On July 18–19, 2026, Pharm. Wansupang Chuaypanang, a resident pharmacist at Arsomya Walailak Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, attended the intensive workshop titled “Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine for Community Pharmacists.” The event was co-organized by the College of Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine (under the Pharmacy Council of Thailand) and the Community Pharmacy Association (Thailand).
The training focused on equipping pharmacists with the knowledge and skills in Pharmacogenomics (PGx)—a leading trend in modern medicine—to enable its concrete application in community pharmacies. The comprehensive curriculum covered practical operations, including:

Analysis and Screening: Risk assessment and screening of eligible patients for the service.

Clinical Practice: Providing counseling, obtaining informed consent, and mastering buccal swab sample collection techniques.

Pharmacological Data Analysis: Interpreting pharmacogenomic test results and analyzing the functions of drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters.

Prevention and Management: Preventing adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and utilizing clinical decision-support tools to manage pharmacy services professionally.
Participating in this capacity-building program reflects Arsomya Walailak Pharmacy’s strong commitment to pioneering a modernized community pharmacy system. Pharm. Wansupang prepares to apply the knowledge and experience gained to further develop the pharmacy’s services in alignment with Precision Medicine guidelines. This initiative aims to promote rational drug use, minimize the risk of drug allergies, and maximize the safety and efficiency of healthcare for the local community.
