Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaweewan Khongsirirat leads faculty members to reinforce academic partnership, driving research from lab to global commercialization.
PHUKET — Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaweewan Khongsirirat, Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Walailak University (WU), recently led a delegation of faculty members and researchers to participate in The 8th Current Drug Development International Conference 2026 (CDD 2026). Held from May 21 to 23, 2026, at the Duangjitt Resort & Spa in Patong Beach, Phuket, the prestigious event was organized under the theme “From Lab to Global Medicine and HealthCare.”
As an official co-hosting partner, the WU School of Pharmacy joined forces with the primary host, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Prince of Songkla University, alongside an elite alliance of seven top Thai pharmacy schools and a leading Malaysian university. This collaborative milestone underscores Walailak University’s prominent role in driving pharmaceutical sciences and global health networks.
The conference offered a comprehensive, deep-dive academic program structured around four core scientific tracks: Natural Product and Traditional Medicine, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology and Drug Delivery System, and Cosmeceuticals and Nutraceuticals.
This year’s conference garnered exceptional global interest, attracting nearly 200 participants and achieving its highest-ever international registration record. The WU delegation engaged in high-level knowledge exchanges with world-renowned keynote and invited speakers. Key scientific highlights included pioneering insights into dissolving microneedles for transdermal drug delivery, plant tissue culture technologies for phytochemical analysis, 3D printing in personalized medicine, and international safety regulations concerning endocrine disruptors in cosmetics.
Beyond academic exchange, the WU faculty focused on fostering research collaborations geared towards Sustainable Development—aligning with the conference’s mission to translate pure laboratory research into viable commercialized products and sustainable practices. Outstanding research contributions selected from the conference are slated for publication in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in the prestigious Scopus database.
The active participation of the WU School of Pharmacy at CDD 2026 reflects its steadfast commitment to fostering international academic mobility, empowering its faculty, and continuously elevating the standards of pharmaceutical research to benefit global healthcare systems.
