School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, Joins Forces to Drive Rational Drug Use (RDU) and Elevate Public Health in Health Region 11

On July 13-14, 2026, the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, reinforced its commitment as an educational institution for society by sending expert faculty members to serve as guest speakers at a workshop on “Capacity Building for the Promotion of Rational Drug Use (RDU)” for Health Region 11 in Surat Thani province. This initiative aims to advance and ensure medication safety for the public in the southern region.

The workshop featured Asst.Prof.Dr. Tida Sottiyotin and Dr. Tanavij Pannoi, faculty members from the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, who delivered lectures and shared their expertise. The primary goal was to enhance the potential of the RDU policy coordination network. The event was attended by healthcare professionals from hospitals and provincial public health offices covering seven southern provinces: Krabi, Phang Nga, Phuket, Ranong, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Chumphon, and Surat Thani.

This activity marks a significant milestone under the national collaboration network between pharmacy education institutions and all 12 health regions in Thailand, demonstrating a strong commitment to integrated operations. The School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, has been designated as the core institution responsible for overseeing, providing academic support, and driving research to tangibly promote rational drug use in Health Region 11.

This collaborative integration goes beyond transferring knowledge from the university to practical application within the healthcare system; it also fosters a robust professional network. Ultimately, this collaboration strives toward the highest goals: ensuring medication safety, mitigating the problem of antimicrobial resistance, and sustainably elevating the quality of life for people in the region.
