Dr. Thanawat Kongyot and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suriyon Uitrakul, faculty members from the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, attended the international academic conference, the “2026 US-Thai/US-ASEAN Pharmacy Consortia Meeting,” held from June 1–5, 2026, at the College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois Chicago, and the University of Iowa in the United States.
This conference serves as a vital platform for academic collaboration among educational institutions and pharmacy professional organizations from the United States and Thailand. Notably, it marks the first time that ASEAN member countries have been included in the meeting to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in pharmacy education management, professional development, research, and healthcare services at an international level.
During the event, participants presented and discussed key issues shaping the future of the pharmacy profession. Topics included the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching and patient care, the competency development of pharmacy graduates in alignment with international standards, the establishment of international research collaboration networks, the advancement of curricula responsive to healthcare system changes, and the promotion of the quality of life and well-being for students and academic personnel.
This participation reflects the mission of the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, in advancing education, research, and international collaboration. It underscores the commitment to preparing faculty members, students, and graduates to effectively navigate future transformations in the healthcare system and the pharmacy profession.
