Saturday, August 26, 2023, the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University by Mr. Pannawat Muttharat, Miss Kanruethai Sangkhano, 5th-year Pharmacy students, and 1st-year Pharmacy students visited the Baan-Sa-Ka community area, Thasala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province to follow up on performance “Model Grocery Project of Baan-Sa-Ka”. They found that the sample grocery stores participating in the project operated under standards according to the grocery standard inspection form.
“Model Grocery Project of Baan-Sa-Ka” is under the social service academic project (WU – Social engagement). The project has started from February 2023 to September 2023. The project was implemented by integrating teaching outside the classroom in the subject, Family and Community Pharmacy which collaborating with academic services (Social engagement) in collaboration with Baan-Sa-Ka Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and also dealing with Village health volunteers (VHVs) and local grocery stores by learning and carrying out the project to promote the health and well-being of people in the community (SDG 3.3.2; Good health and Well-being) to create integrated work among cooperation partners (SDG 17; Partnerships for the Goals) through creating correct knowledge and understanding for people in the community and entrepreneurs (SDG 4.3.2; Quality Education). Project implementation consists of the main activities:
- Analysis and exploration of health problems of people in the community together with Baan-Sa-Ka Public Health Hospital and volunteers found that the groceries in the community did not pass the standard and some products might have negative effects on health
- Organize activities to proactively educate people in the community by educating them about how to select health products, especially medicines and food.
- Organize activities to educate grocery who are willing to participate in the model grocery project including organizing the grocery to meet the standards.
From the performance, it was found that the community is satisfied with to model grocery project and there are more other groceries interested in participating in this project. The project team wishes that Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals and VHVs take this project as a model to develop their communities sustainably soon.
