Can Tho, Vietnam – November 8, 2025
The School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, recently participated in the 2025 ASEAN PharmNET Dean Summit, held from November 6–8, 2025, at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP), Vietnam. The event was co-hosted by CTUMP and ASEAN PharmNET, serving as a key platform for deans and representatives from leading pharmacy schools across ASEAN and several universities from the United States to exchange ideas, strengthen academic partnerships, and advance regional pharmacy education and research.
The delegation from Walailak University’s School of Pharmacy comprised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaweewan Klongsirivech (Acting Dean), Dr. Thanawat Khongyos (Acting Deputy Dean), and Dr. Theerapat Majam. Their participation underscored the School’s commitment to fostering academic collaboration, sharing innovative practices, and co-developing strategies for advancing pharmaceutical education and research within ASEAN and beyond.
The conference began with a welcome address by the Dean of CTUMP, followed by the official signing ceremony recognizing CTUMP as a new member of ASEAN PharmNET and its inclusion in the US–ASEAN Pharmacy Consortium — a milestone expanding international academic and research cooperation.
The summit featured a Best Practice Sharing session covering four key themes:
-
Pharmacy Education: Curriculum Design and Execution
-

-
Professional Service and Industry Engagement
Additionally, the US Best Practice Sharing session showcased insights from experts at the University of Arizona, University of Kentucky, and University of Illinois Chicago, focusing on:

Through active participation, Walailak University delegates gained invaluable exposure to global trends in pharmacy education, policy perspectives, and emerging research collaborations. The summit also provided opportunities for in-depth discussions with international experts, paving the way for new academic and research partnerships that will enhance curriculum development and innovation within the School.
The next ASEAN PharmNET Dean Summit is scheduled to take place at Taylor University, Malaysia, in 2026 — continuing the shared mission to elevate pharmacy education and professional standards across the region.
