Nakhon Si Thammarat – Asst. Prof. Dr. Siranee Yongpradoem, lecturer at the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, together with fifth-year pharmacy students, organized the project “Safe Use of Medicines in Ban Ton Liab 2025” under the theme “Know Your Medicines, Ensure Safety, Care for the Community” during January 30 – February 6, 2025 in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
The project activities were held at Ban Pa Payu Mosque, Suanmak Temple, Phaowadee Temple, Wat Chaitharampradit School, and Ban Thung Kraw School. The program aimed to raise awareness and provide accurate knowledge on the safe and rational use of medicines, with a focus on hazardous drugs and antibiotics, targeting religious leaders, community leaders, and the general public. A total of 145 participants joined the sessions.
Post-activity evaluation showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and understanding of hazardous drugs and antibiotics compared with before the program. Participants expressed high satisfaction with the activities, particularly religious leaders, who emphasized their intention to disseminate the knowledge gained through various community initiatives.
This project highlights Walailak University’s commitment to academic service, fostering health literacy, and promoting the safe use of medicines, thereby contributing to sustainable improvements in the quality of life for local communities.
