The School of Pharmacy at Walailak University organized a training session on pharmacogenetics and precision medicine for general pharmacy practitioners. The training, held from July 24-26, 2024, took place at the Phattharathammaphorn Conference Room, Walailak University Hospital Center, Thasala, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The event was honoured by the presence of the Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Apichart Atipairin, who presided over the ceremony.
This training aims to equip participants with a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts in pharmacogenetics and the impact of gene polymorphisms on treatment efficacy, drug toxicity, and adverse drug reactions. The knowledge gained will enable participants to apply it in their professional practice and pass it on to students undergoing practical training. Those who complete the training can request certification from the Pharmacy Council, allowing them to pursue a subsequent 4-month short course.
The training session featured distinguished speakers, including Professor Dr. Cholapat Sukkasem from the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, and Miss Niracha Kuchanthara, a Pharmacist from Bumrungrad International Hospital. Both are nationally recognized experts in pharmacogenetics and precision medicine.
