Thai Pharmacy Students Earn Recognition in National Video Contest Promoting Rational Drug Use

Nakhon Si Thammarat – Two fifth-year pharmacy students from Walailak University, Mr. Afani Moolsap and Ms. Kanyanat Chantip, have received an honorable mention award in the national video contest “Creative Video Clips for Promoting Rational Drug Use”. The competition was organized under the initiative of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Ministry of Public Health, Thailand.

Their winning entry, submitted in the General Public category, stood out for its creativity and clear communication on the importance of rational medicine use—a pressing issue in Thailand and globally, as inappropriate drug consumption contributes to rising cases of antimicrobial resistance and public health challenges.

The FDA’s nationwide campaign aims to foster greater public awareness about the responsible use of medicines, emphasizing accurate information, safe practices, and effective communication strategies. The recognition of the Walailak University students underscores the growing role of young scholars in advancing public health education and promoting sustainable healthcare practices.

University officials praised the achievement, noting that it not only reflects the students’ academic commitment but also highlights the School of Pharmacy’s mission to integrate community engagement, innovation, and social responsibility into its educational framework.

This accolade further positions Walailak University as an emerging leader in pharmacy education in Thailand, fostering future healthcare professionals who are equipped to address both national and global health challenges.
