“Herbal Safety is the big issue now” This topic is very interesting and many researchers need to discover scientific support and scientific data about the safety of the medicine from the herbs. Information about safety is needed for the people, especially the self-medication of the people. The School of Pharmacy, Walailak University supports health-related events, research, and academic support to the community, and people who are interested in this topic, including the company who is concerned about the safety of their products. Assistant Professor Dr.Boonsong Wungsintaweekul, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, Walailak University is the mentor of the Science Project of the High School students, in and out of Walailak University, said The biosafety of herbal products concerned, especially drug interaction between herbal products and the modern medicines in the medication of the patients. Last year (from September – November 2022), we supervised one group of High School students (Miss Chutikarn Supatrakul and Miss Sasiwimol Areekit) from Benjamarachutit School, Nakhon Si Thammarat dealing with the research topic about the Effect of ethanol crude extracts of some varieties of Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil. (Rubiaceae) on Ampicillin Sodium activities against pathogenic bacteria. This project is finished and presented in the science conference Mathematics and Technology For students of the DPST Classroom Project (Toward Excellence), 2nd National Level, Academic Year 2022. As a result, Miss Chutikarn Supatrakul and Miss Sasiwimol Areekit won the oral presentation (Thai version) – Chemistry prize as the Gold medal Level.
