Future Proofing Pharmacy”: Igniting Future Competencies – Southern Pharmacists Annual Conference 2025

On July 5–6, 2025, the Southern Pharmacists Association, in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, organized a professional conference under the theme “Future Proofing Pharmacy: Emerging Competencies for Tomorrow’s Challenge” at the Bongchotrat Conference Room, Twin Lotus Hotel, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Pharmacist Preecha Phantitevej, President of the Pharmacy Council of Thailand. The conference featured renowned experts, including Professor Dr. Pornsak Sriamornsak, Associate Professor Dr. Preecha Montakantikul, and Assistant Professor Dr. Rungpetch Sakulbumrungsil, who delivered insightful lectures on various topics aligned with the conference theme.

This year, Mrs. Waranee Poocharoen, President of the Southern Pharmacists Association, also presented an overview of the association’s progress and officially announced the establishment of the Southern Pharmacists Society, which was formally approved on May 7, 2025. Mrs. Waranee Poocharoen has been appointed as the first President of the Society, while Mr. Warasak Puttipanich served as the initial Chair of the Southern Pharmacists Association during the Society’s formative stage.

In addition, the event included a ceremony to honor Outstanding Southern Pharmacists. This year, Miss Wannita Wipadapisut, an alumna of the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, was awarded the Outstanding Southern Pharmacist Award in Community Pharmacy.

In the evening, a tribute was paid to senior pharmacists who are retiring this year, along with a warm welcome extended to newly graduated pharmacists beginning their practice in the southern region.
