On Thursday, October 15, 2026, faculty members from the Division of Pharmaceutical Care, School of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Therapy, School of Allied Health Sciences, Walailak University, successfully hosted the inaugural Interprofessional Education (IPE) session at Meeting Room 1500, Thaiburi Building.
Organized as part of the course PHA62-560 Family and Community Pharmacy 2, the session brought together 5th-year Doctor of Pharmacy students (Pharmaceutical Care track) and 3rd-year Physical Therapy students. The students engaged in interdisciplinary case discussions based on actual patient home visits conducted by the pharmacy students, fostering collaborative patient-centered care strategies. Prior to the event, comprehensive pharmacist notes were shared with physical therapy faculty to facilitate structured and meaningful interprofessional exchange, drawing widespread interest and active participation from faculty members across both disciplines.
This milestone educational initiative directly aligns with the Pharmacy Council of Thailand’s accreditation benchmarks for educational institutions promoting Rational Drug Use (RDU). Looking ahead, this initiative plans to expand into joint interprofessional home-visit field practices, allowing pharmacy and physical therapy students to deliver coordinated community care side by side.
Faculty members interested in participating as group facilitators in future academic years are warmly invited to contact the course coordinator, Asst.Prof.Dr. Tida Sottiyotin.
