On April 10, 2026, the Nakhon Si Thammarat Special Education Center (Thasala Service Unit) was transformed into a space of joy and warmth. Faculty members from the School of Pharmacy, Walailak University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Petcharat Boonruamkaew, alongside Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattikan Nokkaew and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jantrathip Jomrit, visited the center to launch a heart-led academic service project.
Driving Sustainability through the “Power of Giving”
This initiative is more than just a site visit; it is a strategic commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being). The project aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for children with special needs, ensuring that “quality of life” is accessible to everyone at every age.
Activities Designed with “Empathy”
Stepping out of the traditional classroom, the professors took on the roles of mentors, engaging the students through specially designed activities to boost physical and mental development:
🎯 Motor Skill Training: A lively ball-tossing activity designed to enhance gross motor skills and physical coordination.
🎨 Art Therapy: A coloring session that focused on developing fine motor skills while fostering patience, concentration, and mindfulness.
🤝 Collaborative Learning: The faculty worked side-by-side with the center’s teachers, exchanging educational techniques to better unlock each student’s unique potential.
Nourishing Bodies, Uplifting Spirits
To promote holistic well-being, the project concluded the day on a high note by hosting a nutritious lunch and fresh fruit juices for the students. This gesture also served as a heartfelt tribute and moral support to the dedicated teaching staff at the Thasala Service Unit.
“This project proves that university expertise belongs beyond the campus walls. When knowledge meets compassion, it creates a tangible impact—fostering a sustainable, healthy society where no one is left behind.”
